Toccoa’s Falls Road alcohol-license decision remains undocumented nearly three years later

Nearly three years after Falls Convenience Store’s request for an Alcohol Beverage Control license appeared before the Toccoa City Commission, the public outcome remains undocumented in the identified official record. The commission’s Aug. 14, 2023 agenda listed the request for the business at 2646 Falls Road, but it recorded no vote or other resolution.

That distinction matters for a neighborhood business: placement on a City Commission agenda is a proposal for consideration, not proof that a license was issued. A documented decision would tell customers, nearby residents and workers whether the store was authorized to sell alcohol, whether commissioners rejected or delayed the request, or whether it was withdrawn.

WNEG Radio reported before the meeting that commissioners were scheduled to consider two new alcohol licenses at their regular Aug. 14, 2023 meeting, including Falls Convenience Store’s request and a separate request for Fuel and More. The City Commission agenda then formally listed Falls Convenience Store under consideration.
