Toccoa Still Has No Public Answer on Fuel and More Alcohol License

Nearly three years after Toccoa commissioners were scheduled to consider an Alcohol Beverage Control License for Fuel and More at 628 Prather Bridge Road, the public account still does not answer the central question: what did the city do with the request? The Aug. 14, 2023 City Commission agenda placed the matter before commissioners, but it does not record an approval, denial, continuance or other final action.

That distinction matters for more than paperwork. A license request on an agenda is not operating authority to sell alcohol. The commission’s eventual decision, if one was made, could determine whether Fuel and More was authorized to make alcohol sales and whether that authority carried conditions relevant to customers and nearby residents. Fuel and More was the applicant seeking an Alcohol Beverage Control License for its 628 Prather Bridge Road location. The City Commission was the public body assigned to consider that request. WNEG Radio’s reporting described the item as consideration of issuing a new license, while the agenda identified Fuel and More by name and address.
