Tallulah Falls Council Approves School Zone Camera Fund Policy

The Town Council first put a school zone camera program on its agenda in March, including a proposed enforcement agreement with the Georgia Department of Revenue naming Altumint as the vendor.

In April the council unanimously approved letting the mayor sign an acknowledgement of agreement with the state Department of Revenue designating Altumint as the town's point of contact for the camera program. At the same meeting, the council unanimously voted to table further discussion of the program because of new legislation.

In May the council unanimously adopted a resolution establishing a School Zone Camera Revenue Transition Policy and appropriated funds for public safety initiatives. Minutes describe the resolution as setting up a School Zone Camera Fund balance and appropriating existing funds toward public safety initiatives already identified.

Later that month, a resident told the council that people in town often ask how the speeding citation revenue is being used.
