In January 2025 the Habersham County Development Authority discussed an update on strategic economic development planning, noting that the deadline for a pre-application to the ARC (Appalachian Regional Commission) grant was March 11, 2025.
The following month, the Board of Commissioners heard a presentation on developing an economic development strategic plan tied to the ARC grant application. The Development Authority said it had secured $50,000 in seed money for the plan and that the ARC grant being sought would provide another $50,000.
By its March 2025 meeting, the Development Authority noted the ARC grant pre-application deadline had passed and continued its update on the strategic planning effort.
