The story
The Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency sought vendors to provide motor coach, paratransit and ambulance evacuation services for vulnerable populations in a disaster, and county staff asked the Board of Commissioners to renew its contract with GEMA/HS for that purpose.
The Board of Commissioners approved the GEMA/HS vulnerable population evacuation and transportation contract on a 5-0 vote.
A year later, county staff again asked commissioners to renew the arrangement, this time as a memorandum of agreement covering ambulance and non-emergency medical transport, including transport of infants under the state's regional perinatal care program.
The Board of Commissioners approved the renewed GEMA/HS contract for vulnerable population evacuation transportation services on a 4-0 vote.
