Franklin Springs council approves water and sewer rate increase effective July 1

In March, the Franklin Springs City Council discussed options for how to structure utility rates, weighing a flat rate against a usage-based rate, and said the topic would return at the April meeting.

At the April meeting, the council discussed a possible increase to water, sewer and trash rates, noting a vote could come at the May meeting.

On May 21, the council approved an increase in water and sewer rates effective July 1, 2026. New rates include $6.00 per 1,000 gallons for inside-city water and sewer, $7.30 for outside-city, $6.70 for commercial, $10.00 for industrial, and $16.00 per cart for garbage.
