Georgia EPD reviews air permit for new Pleasant Valley Road granite quarry

Pleasant Valley Road Quarry, LLC applied to the Georgia Environmental Protection Division to construct and operate a new granite rock quarry and stone processing facility, with the application describing a crushing capacity of 1,200 tons of rock per hour and truck loadout of up to 23,500 tons per day.

A draft permit circulated for the project lays out air pollution control equipment for the quarry and crushing operations and sets the same primary production level — 1,200 tph and 23,500 tons per day — with operating hours of 6:01 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

On September 10, 2026, the EPD's Air Protection Branch recommended issuing Air Quality Permit No. 1423-263-0016-S-01-0 to Pleasant Valley Road Quarry, LLC, citing a 24-hour PM10 standard of 150 µg/m3 and a background concentration of 30.7 µg/m3 for the area.

A later EPD notice dated November 13, 2026 addressed a Synthetic Minor permit for the same project, described as construction and operation of a new greenfield granite quarry and stone processing facility in Talbot County.
