Clarkesville City Council adopts 2026 budget, sets millage rate at 13.57 mills

In July 2025, Mayor and City Council heard a preliminary 2026 budget, described as pending the city's tax digest.

On September 8, the council voted 4-0 to set public hearing dates for the 2026 budget and millage rate, and the city's finance officer presented and discussed the proposed budget.

The council then held three public hearings on the budget and millage rate. No members of the public attended the first, on September 23, and the budget was not presented there. At the second, on September 29, and the third, on October 6, the finance officer presented the 2026 budget; no questions or comments were raised at the October 6 hearing.

At the October 6 meeting, the council voted 3-0 to approve the 2026 budget and separately voted 3-0 to approve the 2026 millage rate, which was set at 13.57 mills.
