The story
In June 2025, the Town Council noted that the County Judge would no longer hear animal control cases, leaving the issue to the Town to resolve, and that the intergovernmental agreement covering animal control was set to expire June 30.
An amendment to the Habersham County intergovernmental agreement for animal control provisions appeared on the Town Council's July 2026 agenda.
At that same meeting, the Town Council voted unanimously to adopt the amendment to the Habersham County agreement for animal control provision.
