By April, council materials noted that investment options for town funds are restricted by statute, mainly to government-backed securities like federal or state bonds and T-bills, and an investments item was placed on the council's April 17 agenda.
At that April 17 meeting, the council decided to invest $400,000 in a three-year certificate of deposit to cover the salary of a full-time police officer, and then voted unanimously to proceed with the investments as discussed, which also included funds set aside for a water tank.
