Royston Considers Permanent Exit From State Homestead-Exemption Framework

Royston City Council members in January 2025 considered whether to permanently opt out of Georgia’s HB 581 floating homestead-exemption framework, after City Manager Lanier Dunn recommended that course and outlined three public hearings for Jan. 27 and 28. The meeting did not produce a vote: the minutes explicitly say the opt-out question was not before council for action that evening.
