In July 2024, the Habersham County Board of Commissioners approved a conditional use permit, CU-24-07, allowing Celeste Wood to operate a dog training and breeding kennel on 1.5 acres at 786 Stonepile Road. The approval, passed 3-2, required that a building for the operation be constructed within 12 months.
By February 2025, the board's minutes noted that revocation of the conditional use was expected to come before commissioners the following month.
County staff later recommended revoking the permit because the required canine barn, which was supposed to be built by July 2025 under the original 12-month condition, had not been constructed.
On August 18, 2025, the Board of Commissioners voted unanimously, 5-0, to revoke conditional use CU-24-07, ending the permit for the kennel and breeding facility at 786 Stonepile Road.
