The story
The Habersham County Board of Commissioners considered an intergovernmental agreement with the City of Cornelia for use of the county's radio system and radio maintenance, and the board approved the Northeast Georgia Regional Radio Network IGA with Cornelia on August 17, 2026.
By October, the county was preparing to extend similar access to the municipalities of Alto, Baldwin, Demorest, Mount Airy and Tallulah Falls, with a proposed rate of $80.79 per subscriber unit per month and a radio maintenance agreement under which Habersham's Radio System Administrator would provide day-to-day management of the network.
The package included a specific agreement permitting the City of Baldwin to use the county's Northeast Georgia Regional Radio Network for public safety and public service radio communication.
The Board of Commissioners' October 19 agenda lists considering and approving the intergovernmental agreement with Alto, Baldwin, Demorest, Mount Airy and Tallulah Falls for use of the county radio system and radio maintenance.
