Habersham County’s unanswered question: Who is following short-term-rental rules?

Habersham County commissioners left short-term-rental oversight unresolved after an April 17, 2023, work-session discussion in which Planning Director Mike Beecham said his office was seeing little compliance with the county’s existing expectations as requests for rentals increased. Beecham told the board that short-term-rental operators were expected to obtain a county business license and register with the state to pay hotel/motel tax, while commissioners considered how neighboring counties approached the issue.
