Habersham County considered recurring medical checks for disability school-tax exemption

Habersham County’s Board of Assessors considered requiring updated physician statements every five years from homeowners claiming the 100% Disabled Total School Homestead Exemption, according to minutes from its March 27, 2023 meeting. The proposed medical review would be added to the county’s policies and procedures and aligned with the five-year income audits already used for the exemption.
