Habersham County puts old courthouse demolition bids on hold over possible state aid

Habersham County officials said at their May 4, 2023 regular meeting that they would not issue a request for proposals for bids to demolish the old courthouse at that time. The hold followed advice, as described in the meeting minutes, that moving ahead with bidding could jeopardize the county’s eligibility for possible Georgia Department of Community Affairs grants to help cover demolition costs.
