Habersham extends pause on larger housing proposals through March 17
Habersham County commissioners unanimously voted Feb. 16 to extend through March 17 a limited moratorium on accepting some larger residential-development applications, preserving a temporary brake on new preliminary plats and certain rezonings as the county continues work connected to its Unified Development Code. The 4-0 action adopted Resolution 2026-02-002, according to the county’s meeting minutes.

The next concrete public decision point is before or at the March 17 expiration of the extended moratorium, when commissioners could let it lapse, extend it again, or take related action on development rules. Those outcomes remain undecided in the Feb. 16 minutes.
