Habersham industrial-site plan depends on state sale of 180-acre South County tract

Habersham County officials on April 17, 2025, discussed pursuing a 180-acre South County tract owned by the Georgia Department of Corrections as a possible industrial-development site. The proposal did not authorize a purchase or begin development: officials said the county would first need additional Department of Corrections approval to buy the land at market price.
