Habersham’s proposed open-burning rule change still lacks a recorded final decision

Habersham County commissioners began the formal process of changing the county’s open-burning rules on Jan. 16, 2024, when Commissioner Akins delivered the first required reading of a proposed amendment to the fire-prevention provisions of the county code. Commissioners were not set to vote that day; the meeting minutes said a vote would wait until the commission’s Feb. 19 meeting.
