At the Habersham County Board of Commissioners' May 18, 2026 meeting, a concern was raised about whether voters had ever been given the opportunity to reconsider continuation of the ESPLOST tax.
The next day, May 19, 2026, that opportunity came before voters in the Board of Education's ESPLOST VII referendum. Results show it passed, with 5,506 yes votes to 3,452 no votes out of 8,958 total votes cast.
