Habersham County’s Fourth of July Fireworks Proposal Still Has No Recorded Decision

Habersham County’s idea of sponsoring or hosting a Fourth of July fireworks celebration remains unresolved nearly three years after county commissioners first discussed it in an Oct. 16, 2023 work session. The minutes show Commissioner Bruce Mealor raised the question after saying several residents had asked whether the county could hold its own celebration, but they do not record an approved event, budget, venue agreement or partnership.

The question carries implications beyond a single night of fireworks.
