Habersham tax assessors let Tench parcel exit conservation covenant without penalty

The request concerned parcel 040-076, owned by Paula and Victor Tench, which was under a Conservation Use Covenant, a tax designation that lowers a property's assessed value in exchange for keeping it in conservation use for a set term.

The Habersham County Board of Tax Assessors took up the Tenches' request to end the covenant without penalty for tax year 2026. The board voted unanimously to approve it, on a motion by John King, seconded by Sonya Turgeon.
