In February 2026, the Habersham County Airport Commission discussed the need to re-advertise for airport engineering and planning services, noting that FAA regulations require such services to be advertised every five years.
In June, the Airport Commission voted 3-1 to award both the Airport Consultant Planning Services contract and the Airport Consultant Design Services contract to Kimley Horn, recommending the Board of Commissioners award the overall Airport Consultant and Design Services Agreement.
The Board of Commissioners then approved, 5-0, both RFP 2026-08 for airport planning services and RFP 2026-09 for airport design services, awarding each to Kimley-Horn and Associates, which had received the highest score in both categories. County staff summaries had requested approval to contract with the firm for design and planning for the next five years.
In July, the Airport Commission welcomed Kimley-Horn staff as the airport's new consulting firm.
