State proposes attributing Augusta air pollution spike to prescribed and silviculture fire smoke

Georgia's Environmental Protection Division has issued a draft notice proposing that a fine-particle (PM2.5) exceedance recorded at an Augusta-area monitor on February 3, 2025, was caused by smoke from prescribed and silviculture fires rather than typical pollution sources.
