The story
At a June 30 work session, the Franklin County Board of Commissioners discussed a proposed data center ordinance. A suggestion was made to adopt a temporary moratorium while permanent language is developed for inclusion in the Unified Development Code.
On July 6, the board approved a data center moratorium by a 3-0 vote. The moratorium will remain in effect through December 2026, and its language is to be broadened to cover similar facilities.
