Franklin County pauses data-center projects while it writes zoning rules
Franklin County commissioners voted 3-0 on July 6 to approve a temporary moratorium on data centers through December 2026, pausing the county’s approach to those projects while officials prepare regulations for the Unified Development Code. During the same action, the board adopted an amendment intended to extend the moratorium to facilities similar in nature to data centers, according to the July 6 Board of Commissioners minutes.
