Demorest approves $12,500 contract to set utility rules for new development

Demorest City Council unanimously approved a contract of up to $12,500 with EMI on April 7 to develop water and sewer standards for new development, moving the city from discussion to an authorized consulting effort. The 4–0 vote came after EMI outlined work that would include utility specifications, plan-review procedures, checklists and a submission package.
