Demorest City Council adopts zoning ordinance changes creating a Mobile Home Parks district

The story

In April 2025, city staff presented Demorest City Council with an ordinance to add a mobile home definition to the city's zoning code. The council took up a first reading of the amendment at its regular session the same day.

The council held a public hearing on zoning ordinance amendments on May 12, 2025. Staff told the council a parcel had been mislabeled as agriculture when it should carry a mobile home classification. The council voted 3-0 to waive first reading of a separate Article 89 text amendment and to table zoning map and text amendments on park provisions to its June 12 meeting.
