Demorest’s Florida Street grant proposal remains undecided as two downtown projects win approval

Demorest’s proposed Florida Street-to-Central Avenue-to-Demorest–Mt. Airy project was still awaiting a Georgia Department of Transportation decision as of the city Downtown Development Authority’s March 5, 2025 meeting. Authority minutes said two of the city’s three GDOT grant applications had been approved, leaving the Florida Street proposal as the unresolved piece of a broader $7.15 million request.
