Demorest reports two GDOT grant approvals, but downtown projects have no public timetable

Demorest’s Downtown Development Authority reported March 5, 2025, that the Georgia Department of Transportation had approved two of the City Council’s three transportation grant applications: a streetscaping project for Hazel and Georgia streets, and lighting and power improvements around the city park and City Hall. The same report said a proposed connection from Florida Street through Central Avenue to Demorest-Mt. Airy was still pending.
