Demorest’s temporary option for outside alcohol service has expired without a documented replacement

Demorest’s temporary exception for off-premises alcohol pouring permits expired March 31, 2025, without a later successor rule documented in the council record for the matter. The mayor and council had agreed on Feb. 6, 2024 that certain alcohol licensees based elsewhere in Habersham County could seek a permit to serve a qualifying event in Demorest when no city licensee could provide the service.
