Demorest’s proposed break from statewide homestead-tax framework still lacks a documented vote

Demorest City Council’s last documented action on whether to leave Georgia’s statewide adjusted-base-year homestead-exemption framework was a public hearing Feb. 13, 2025, where officials announced the city’s intent to opt out and said the mayor and council would call the measure for a noon vote one week later. The hearing minutes, however, stop short of recording any final council decision, leaving the proposed tax-policy change unresolved in the public account reflected there.
