Demorest advances Piedmont alcohol-vendor proposal but leaves final rules unresolved

Demorest City Council unanimously voted 4-0 on Feb. 6, 2024, to waive the first reading of a proposed alcohol-ordinance amendment requested by Piedmont University, moving the university’s request forward procedurally without settling whether the rule will take effect. The proposal concerns off-premises pouring permits for vendors serving university events.
