Cornelia utility customers face proposed annual water and sewer increases through 2029
Cornelia Water Authority returned a proposal for annual utility-rate increases to its July 28 agenda, putting Cornelia water and sewer customers on notice that bills could rise each year from 2027 through 2029. The rate study said water rates would need 5.5% annual increases and sewer rates 5.3% annual increases, but the July agenda does not show that the authority took a final vote or put the increases into effect.

The next public development to watch is a Cornelia Water Authority meeting record, recorded vote or later rate notice that explicitly states whether officials acted and, if so, which rates and effective dates they adopted. Until such a record appears, residents cannot tell from these agendas whether the increases remain a proposal, were altered, or were approved. The connection between the April 28 and July 28 public-hearing notices also remains unexplained in the notices themselves.
