In February 2026, a request to extend Martin Luther King Jr. Drive to Main Street went before the City of Cornelia Commission after resident Audrey Davenport came forward asking for the extension.
At that same February meeting, the ask was recorded as a request that the portion of Chattahoochee Street between Main Street and Clarkesville Street be renamed Martin Luther King.

In March, Davenport again asked the commission to extend the one block of Chattahoochee to MLK and down to Main Street, and requested a sign marking it.
