Cornelia preservation panel advances boundaries for proposed second historic district
Cornelia’s Historic Preservation Commission unanimously approved proposed boundaries for a second historic preservation district on July 16, defining an area from Front Street to Wyly Street and from Larkin Street to Jones Street. The next concrete public step is for staff, consultants and GIS personnel to prepare the maps and bring them back to the Historic Preservation Commission for review. Until that occurs, Cornelia has not recorded a final decision establishing the district. The remaining questions are which individual parcels the mapping will show within the proposed four-street area and whether the commission will ultimately adopt a second historic preservation district.
