Cornelia Downtown Authority Delays Work Plan as Centennial Festival Takes Priority
Cornelia’s Downtown Development Authority said in its June 2026 meeting minutes that work on its downtown work plan had been delayed as the board concentrated on the city’s centennial festival. The authority said it intends to resume that work after the celebration; the update also noted that Cornelia had been awarded a placemaking grant.

The next concrete public marker will be a later DDA meeting record showing whether the authority has returned to the work plan and, if so, what specific proposals, amendments or formal actions it considers. Still undecided in the public record are the timing of that return and whether, or how, Cornelia’s placemaking grant will be used in connection with downtown planning.
This matter rests on a single official record so far. It stays compact until a later record adds to it.
