Cornelia’s downtown program wins 2024 accreditation; top-tier designation remains unresolved

Cornelia’s Main Street Program was accredited for 2024 after city staff presented its annual assessment to the Main Street Board in Athens on Feb. 29, the city’s Downtown Development Authority reported in March. The same discussion opened the possibility of seeking “Gem Community” status, which the minutes describe as the program’s highest accreditation level, but no decision on that higher designation is recorded.
