Clarkesville council approves outdoor lighting ordinance, then approves it again after changes

On July 7, 2025, the Clarkesville Mayor and City Council voted 5-0 to adopt Lighting Ordinance 2025-5, which sets outdoor lighting standards for the city.

At that same meeting, a council member, Mr. Dickerson, wanted to amend the ordinance as presented to allow some up lighting.

The matter returned at the council's August 4, 2025 work session, where it was noted that Mr. Dickerson had made changes to the ordinance since the July meeting.

Later on August 4, 2025, the City Council approved Ordinance 2025-5 Outdoor Lighting by a 5-0 vote, on a motion by Council Member Brad Coppedge.
