The story
On May 6, the Carnesville City Council voted to reschedule its June meeting to June 11 and set two public hearings that night on the budget and a zoning ordinance amendment pertaining to accessory buildings, plus a called meeting on June 17 to adopt the budget.
At the June 11 meeting, the council held public hearings on the FY26 budget and on the accessory-buildings zoning amendment, then unanimously approved first reads of the FY26 Budget Resolution, the zoning ordinance amendment pertaining to accessory buildings, and an ordinance regarding accessory building permit requirements.
At the June 17 called meeting, after a further public hearing on the FY26 budget, the council unanimously approved the final read and adoption of the FY26 budget and Budget Resolution, the ordinance regarding accessory building permit requirements, and the zoning ordinance amendment pertaining to accessory buildings.
A public notice confirmed the FY26 Mayor's Recommended Budget was available for public inspection at City Hall beginning June 2, ahead of the June 11 and June 17 hearings.
On August 5, the council unanimously adopted a resolution approving amendments to the FY25 general fund budget.
