The story
In March 2025, the Town of Alto Town Council discussed leasing part of a property owned by Anson Whealler as a potential site for a new water tank. Town officials reported Whealler was in favor of the idea.
More than a year later, in July 2026, Mayor Armour told the Alto Town Council she had been in contact with Whealler about a possible lease or sale of his property on Cornelia/Gainesville Highway for the water tank.
