The 2027 Banks County SPLOST first appeared on the Alto Town Council's agenda in June 2026.

At a called meeting on June 25, the council voted unanimously to accept the 2027 Banks County SPLOST project list, which includes proposed Water/Public Works and Police Department vehicle replacements and totals $24M. The council also voted unanimously to authorize the mayor to sign an intergovernmental agreement with Banks County for the SPLOST.
On July 14, the council adopted a resolution formalizing the 2027 Banks County SPLOST, with all members voting in favor.
